I don't think anyone is irretrievably condemned, really. But, that aside: this is a familiar struggle to me. I may have some queer Muslim connections--I knew some of the al-Fatihah folks, though not in Philadelphia--and I can try to ask around. Meanwhile, can I ask which church you're attending? Because there are a number of Christian denominations that aren't trinitarian, and they might suit you better if the trinitarianism is grating on you. Unitarianism (small u, as in the theological position) isn't so unthinkable. (Well, and for that matter, the Unitarian Universalists have been trying for the last while to incorporate a lot more Islamic material and thinking into their practices. I suppose unitarians go together. I know they may have gotten too far away from Christianity to be appealing to you, so.) Either way, my heart's with you in this struggle. I know a few people in similar positions, and I'm sorry my connections aren't more local to you. (The provost of my seminary is a very queer shaykh from the Chishti tariqa, and I think you'd like him.) Anyway, I'll ask around and see if there's any connections I can find you.
